SPI International / Filmbox has launched its strongest movie channel FilmBox Premium HD in the Czech Republic and Slovakia extending the current HD channel portfolio in the two markets to a total of nine HD channels.

FilmBox Premium HD was launched on Monday, May 9th. UPC, the biggest cable operator in the Czech republic, already confirmed adding the new HD channel to the FilmBox premium line up which already features FilmBox Extra HD as well as other Filmbox channels. Filmbox Premium HD will be successively added to other operators’ networks.

FilmBox Premium HD viewers will get a chance to watch some of the most popular cinema hits in high definition, including Fast and Furious 6, Despicable Me 2, Identity Thief with Melissa McCarthy and Oblivion, an action film starring the Hollywood superstars Tom Cruise and Morgan Freeman. The channel will also present Jekyll and Hyde, a 10-part drama set in 1930s London focusing on Robert Jekyll, the grandson of the original doctor. FilmBox Premium will also air a number of all-time classics such as Notting Hill,Shakespeare In Love, Apollo 13, Liar, Liar andThe Big Lebowski.

In addition to linear distribution, FilmBox Premium HD will be available on FilmBox Live, a multi screen VOD platform which offers access to all FilmBox brand channels and a huge on demand library.
