Leading Montenegrin broadcasters agree to improve working environment for journalists
 07 May 2025
Last week, representatives from UZOR (Association for Responsible and Sustainable Development), Radio Television of Montenegro (RTCG), TV Vijesti, and TV E have signed a document outlining guidelines to improve the working environment for journalists in Montenegro, according to a joint statement.

As reported by RTCG, the guidelines—developed by an expert team from UZOR—commit the signatory media outlets to establish internal mechanisms for reporting pressure on journalists, organize targeted training sessions, provide psychological support to employees, and strengthen institutional support and cooperation in the coming period.

UZOR, for its part, has pledged to offer ongoing support to the signatories in implementing the agreed measures.

“The document also emphasizes the need to foster solidarity among journalists and media outlets, as well as the importance of a strategic approach to raising awareness of ethical standards and professional integrity. It stems from agreements reached at last year’s UZOR conference, Journalism in Montenegro: A Profession Under Growing Pressure and Division, where the leaders of these three broadcasters were among the speakers. We invite all interested media organizations to join the initiative, sign the Guidelines, and take part in the collective effort to ensure a safe working environment for journalists,” the statement reads.

The Guidelines were signed by: Danko Jokanović, Executive Director of UZOR; Boris Raonić, Director General of RTCG; Radomir Kračković, Editor-in-Chief of TV Vijesti; and Draško Đuranović, Editor of TV E.
