United Media announced a strategic collaboration between the Liburnia Film Festival, the oldest documentary film festival in Croatia, and Nova Docu, United Media’s VOD platform dedicated exclusively to documentary content.
Held every August in the coastal town of Opatija, Liburnia Film Festival has become a vital meeting point for authors, experts, and audiences – celebrating the most recent Croatian documentaries and setting the stage for their premieres. This year marks its 23rd edition. Daniel Bukumirović, editor of the Nova Docu catalogue, said: "This partnership is a strategic step in positioning Nova Docu as the go-to platform for documentary film in the region. Liburnia Film Festival is a natural partner – it’s the only Croatian festival dedicated entirely to contemporary national production. We believe great films deserve to live beyond their festival premiere, and our platform is the place to make that happen.” Through this collaboration, documentary producers whose films are featured at LFF will gain extended visibility and long-term access to new audiences across the region. Launched in November 2024, Nova Docu is the first VOD platform under United Media focused solely on documentaries – already reaching nearly 500 million views in its first month. Available via EON in eight markets (Croatia, Slovenia, Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Greece, and Bulgaria), Nova Docu features carefully curated domestic and international films – from biographies and social phenomena to history and pressing contemporary issues.
