The Series Balkans initiative continues to strengthen its role as a major platform for TV projects from Southeastern Europe. This year, the initiative has selected 5 prominent professionals from the region to take part in the Canneseries 2026 Industry Days, which will be held between April 23 - 29. This selection confirms the growing importance of the Balkans as a creative hub within the global audiovisual industry, connecting local talent with international investors and producers at the Palais des Festivals.

Among the invited professionals is the famous producer, director and advisor at the public broadcaster RTV FBiH Jasmin Duraković. Participating in the Producers Club, Duraković will present his new project titled VIR - a dramatic eco-crime series that explores conflicts over the natural resources and political influence in the Balkans. Currently managed by DEPO Sarajevo and 4Film from Zagreb, the project is designed with clear international potential, aiming to attract European partners during the event.

The regional delegation also includes Nikos Apeiranthitis (Greece) in the Writers Club, Elena Hatzialexandrou (Greece) in the Producers Club and Bulgarian producer Boris Despodov in the Docuseries Club. Other members of the group are Serbian composer Aleksandra Kovač and Constantin Deliyanis, representing the Series Balkans network. This diverse group represents the wide variety of creative talent in the region, covering everything from screenwriting and documentary production to musical composition for television formats.

Series Balkans operates as an international platform that connects 12 Balkan countries with the wider European media industry. The initiative focuses on developing contemporary series formats including TV, web series and short-form content. By facilitating the presence of Balkan authors at major events like Canneseries, the platform aims to foster new co-production opportunities and promote Southeast European storytelling to a global audience.
